Quick Tip: Use a Mesh Garment Bag for “Wash by Hand” items

I am always looking for ways to make my life a little easier. When you make things a little easier you become just a little less busy.

Today I am sharing a quick laundry tip! Do you have any “wash by hand” items in your closet? I try to avoid purchasing these types of items, but I do have 1 or 2 that fall into that category. To avoid actually having to hand wash any clothing, I use a mesh garment bag. Just today I put my new thredUP purchase, a “wash by hand” shirt, into my mesh garment bag. It came out of the wash without any damage. I use this trick all the time because when I can I am going to choose the easy button!

What about you? Do you have any quick laundry tips?

You can read my other quick tips here.

Until next time,

  1. This is such a great tip! I have one of those mesh bags I used to use for tiny baby items (like socks) that I wouldn’t want to lose. I’m definitely going to try this!

    1. Items you don’t want to lose is a great use of these bags, Mandy!! I have washed very fancy dresses in the bags, too.

  2. I love my mesh garment bags. I use them on everything from delicates, socks to toys to keep everything clean and prevent me from losing them.

  3. I have a top loader(one of the old fashioned ones with the turn thing(??) in the middle, there are so many things that I actually can’t wash in there, I’ll have to try some things in the bag, only I don’t want them ruined in case it wouldn’t work. I’ll have to try it first with something that doesn’t matter so much if it gets wrecked.

    1. Hi, Jacqueline! I also have a top loader (with what I believe is called an agitator). That’s actually the number one reason I find myself using mesh bags so often. Yes, trying it out on something you don’t care about might be the best place to start. So far I haven’t had any issues!

    1. Hi Sane Mama! Most of my hand wash only items have been purchased online and I didn’t think about the care instructions. Now the mesh bags make it possible for me to wash everything!
